Solastor has entered into an agreement with Carbon Reduction Ventures Pty Ltd to undertake projects in Western Australia.

The first project is at Morawa which is approximately 120km west of Geraldton and is called the North Midlands Sola Thermal Power Project. The application is for a 3MW generation plant with initially 15 modules designed to feed supplementary power into the grid in peak hours. The project will improve the reliability of the local supply during these hours as well as deliver social and economical benefits to the region.

The project is being carried out in conjunction with the Shire of Morawa. The final feasability studies are being caried out under a grant received from the Western Australian Government.

Info from Carbon Reduction Ventures website posted on January 2013:

Carbon Reduction Ventures (CRV) is pleased to announce that following the execution of the funding agreement with State’s Low Emissions Energy Development (LEED) fund in October 2012, work has now commenced on the final feasibility studies for the 1.5MW North Midlands Solar Thermal Power Project.

It is expected that construction of the project may commence in the later half of 2013 or in early 2014.
